We, as lighting designers are inspired by the architectural and interior design. We use light to interact with forms, shapes, textures and colours. Light can be part of the design features in the form of decorative pendants, floor lamps and table lamps or be in the background as discreet downlights and indirect ‘cove lighting’.
Lighting effects can be tangible and intangible. Light can affect us consciously and subconsciously (think of lighting in fast food restaurants and casinos where one is to get customers in and out quickly and the other is to retain the patron’s interest for longer durations).
We, at Lightbox Studio use a few different mediums to express our ideas and hand sketching is one of our favourites.
Below are some of our hand sketches.
